GM862 with GPS and GM863

Hi,

I just want to know what are the diffrences between these two modules. I have just read the description of the 2 and I don’t see any real differences.

The GM862-GPS mounts to a pcb via a connector soldered to the PCB.

The GE863 needs to be soldered to the PCB it mounts on.

Feature wise, the GM862-GPS has a python interpreter and internal sim card socket. The GE863 does not.

Ok, so how to mount the GM863 on the PCB ? I didn’t found any breakboard for it…

The GE863 is brand new… the breakout is still in design.

I’m pretty sure the GE863 has got Python, and it also has a few extra pins on it as well (or is that the 864…) The big difference is mounting style.

GM862-GPS is better for begining, but GE863-GPS cost less.

GM862-GPS has sim card reader inside so you will have less probles with hardware. Also GM862-GPS is better for reuse. For example if you mount GE863-GPS on the board so can not take it out. Also with GM862-GPS you can do smaller solution. GE863-GPS bga is easy for solrering no smd 50 connector which soldering is not easy :slight_smile:
