GPS Interface

Hi,

I am in the process of incorporating a GPS in a project. The GPS output must be interfaced with two different circuits via the serial interface. Can the GPS be coupled to the two circuits directly?

I would actually prefer to isolate the three circuits (GPS, and other two) from each other. What would be a good way to interface the GPS serial output to the input of the other two circuits and keep the circuits isolated from each other?

Yes, you can have the GPS TX line connected to multiple RX lines - I often do this for my development boards so I can sniff the communications between modules and watch them on my laptop.

I suppose you could isolate the signals using a buffer or opto-isolator. Just depends on what you problem you are trying to solve.

yes the output tx can be connected to two rx pins, however two tx cannot be conneted to one rx, they would need to be switched
