Hi there,
I was wondering if handheld GPS units can be stripped of a working GPS module. Is there essencially a single chip that could be pulled/unsoldered out of a handheld Garmin that is unusable because of a broken screen, for example?
just curious. I’ve seen the odd one kicking around on the web for cheap.
Try checking out this website http://gps.hackaday.com/. They have an article on there about hacking open a Palm III gps receiver and extracting the module board out to use in other projects. I saw one of those Palm III receivers on ebay for about $20.00. It should be a pretty cheap solution instead of spending $70+ dollars. Hope this helps you out. Later, Caleb
