There is a guy selling these on ebay, and I was thinking of basing a product with it. Problem is supply if his dries up - I’ll be left with circuit boards made to this size.
So I was hoping someone might recognize it or something like it from a major company.
Hammond makes similar cases. I have been using them for years. Take my advice and go with somthing they offer. You can get them easily, they stay in production a long time and even Mouser and Digikey keep just about the entire line in stock.
I used the extruded aluminum cases quite a bit, on several of my products. They have plastic and metal endplates. I prefer the metal for durability and it seems the milling shop I work with can mill them nicer than the plastic ones.
EDIT:
I forgot to just give you a link to all of the small cases:
I drill a hole in the side of it and pull a pig tail through it and call it a day.
I just got in one of those cast metal cases - they look like crap unfinished, but they really paint up nicely (the one I got was pre-painted) - that might be an option. A splash of color always impresses.
I guess I’m looking to step it up to more of a big-boy case with out breaking the bank (and still small 10-100 runs) - sounds like extruded is the next step before you go custom?
$6-$10 a case really hurts the profit margin. Sigh.
Polycase also sells several small enclosures without mounting flanges. If you let the customer service team know what size you’re looking for, they’ll help you select the enclosure best fitting your needs. Polycase can also machine the hole for the pig tail. The nice thing about having Polycase complete your modifications is that they absorb the cost of scrap so when you purchase 10 pieces, you get 10 pieces. They’ll even give you a quote for free, without hard-pressure to purchase from the quote.
Hope this helps you explore some other options before going fully custom.
