I’ve been salivating the new 857+ “mini” – what’s the real difference between this and other units, aside from the weight/size?

I need to start SMT prototyping and want to upgrade from my old weller through-hole soldering station. I’m a consulting engineer, not a tech so I don’t need production work/rework capability, just something solid for small quantity prototype runs (1-3).
I have not seen much in the way of comments/feedback on the HR906 combo from SFE, so can Sparky and other owners please comment on this unit and on what consumables and replacement parts are available and needed?
BTW, I recently made my first purchase from SFE and am impressed with their energy and committment. An excellent and recommended resource for the prototyping community! (But forum members already knew this)
