I need your assistant on one of my telit equipment i bought from sparkfun store recently. Firstly, the power module supply that came with the modem never work at all. I got another power module to supply the dc voltage as requred, the module came on then I put on the start button to start the modem by pressing it down for 1 secs as instructed by the manual i read from sparkfun store.
The green led came on for a while and blinked for fews secs then went off again, I tried to put it on again but the same process repeateg itself. What can i do so that once the module is on the start led will continue to blink mormally to show that it is now running?
Secondly, how do i interact with the module through the system, it doesnt seems to respond to any command at the hyper terminal port? Kindly give me abrief understanding of what is happening and how do i overcome this challenge.
Thank you as i wait for any response from everybody in the forum.
Assuming you are using either the USB or RS232 eval board, take the following steps.
Hold down the on/off button. The STAT led should turn on, then turn off. After the STAT led is turned off, release the on/off button.
The STAT led should now begin blinking at a rate of about once per second.
Plug in the 232 or USB cable (depending on which eval board you have) and find which com port communicates with the cable you just plugged in.
Open up a terminal emulator on the com port you found in step 3 (terra term, hyperterminal, realterm, etc.) and set it to 9600 baud, 8-N-1, hardware flow control.
Type into the terminal: AT+CGMM [enter]
You should get a response from the terminal saying “gm862-quad”, or something of that nature.
If any of these steps don’t work, call or email techsupport at sparkfun. They can help walk you through it.
I have heard of gm862 modules having their STAT led blink briefly then the module shut down. This symptom supposadly occurs when connecting an MMCX connector to the gm862 module. Then once the MMCX connector is unplugged from the gm862 the module works fine. I have no idea why though.
