I can’t get my LS20031 to work, it just has the light on all the time and doesn’t send or receive or send any data, help please
we also haven’t configured it, if we need to please tell us
We need more info to help u out.
Are you powering it with 3.3v? What’s the baud rate of your conection? HW interface?
You should be able to get some data off it without configuration. The correct behavior of the red LED on board is that it should be off at start-up and start blinking at 1 Hz when it has got a fix. I think constant on means error.
Verify that you feed it 3.3V, at least you should hear something on the TX-pin, even if you’re using the wrong baud rate.
sorry about the low info but i am running at a 3.3v supply and a baud rate of 9600, as you mentioned, the led should never be on anyway, thats whats annoying me, but thanks for the help
I think these modules come configured at a higher speed from the factory/supplier, 57600bps is what i have read in the forums. Mine is on the way so in a couple of days I should be able to tell you about my experience.
57600 is what mine was set at. Also, if you change it, be aware that the setting will remain even when losing power. At least for a period of time (about one week I’ve heard). I run it at 115200 so my solution was to always send reconfigure message in 57600 at start-up. If it was in fact set at 115200, it will just ignore the message anyway.
The LS20031 GPS Module supports up to 32 Channels and outputs at 5Hz. Also, it includes an antenna which is embedded and GPS receiver circuits. It is a low-cost unit which outputs a surprising amount of position information 5 times a second. The GPS smart antenna will track up to 32 satellites at a time while providing fast time-to-first-fix, one-second navigation update and low power consumption. The capabilities meet the sensitivity requirements of car navigation as a well as other location-based applications.
Classic questions:
-are you testing indoor or outdoor?
-How do you connect it, on a RS232 port, on a USB to RS232 cable or a USB to TTL serial ?
-Are TX and RX of the module connected to Rx and Tx of interface?
-Have you checked all baud rates?
