I found room tempriture solder paste with long shelf life

I found room tempriture solder paste with long shelf life.

This would allow people to do surface mount stuff and spark fun to sell more tools for the smd newbie and experianced user.

I wanted to try it becouse of their hotplate example.

The kicker is they still require next day shipping on the paste, even though it doesn’t require refrigeration. I’ve been keeping my eyes open for a place to get solder paste, and this one sounds promising except for the shipping–I’d probably keep it in the fridge after I got it anyway. I think I remember coming across a place on the east coast that was willing to ship ground if it wasn’t overly warm out. Can’t seem to find them anymore.

I agree with the original sentiment, though. It would be nice if SFE carried solder paste (and sold some common SMT passives too…)

Solder paste only said it needed fast ship if not in us. Sparkfun is in the us so they can slow order the solderpaste.

so then maby a airea saying how old the paste is so we know their is 3 months good time left.

I’ve been using the leaded version of their paste with my hot plate and it works well. After about 7-8 months without refrigeration it started to thicken and get harder to work with. It’s still fairly useable after 10 months of sitting on my bench, although I wouldn’t recommend keeping it much longer than that. :o

wow, this sucks - 2 months ago I ordered 2x SMD291SNL (“Solder paste no-clean lead-free 5CC syringe”) from DigiKey for $CAD 16 each, and now they list it as a non-stock item. :frowning: I was so happy when I found that they’d finally started stocking low-quantity solder paste syringes for a decent price… ah well.

Nutter, you have a missunderstanding

Looks like they drop-ship it directly from the manufacturer. The MOQ is still 1. This is generally the only way to garauntee full life.

I parsed their shipping instructions a bit differently, but I figured I’d give it a shot anyway… I ordered some paste and flux with ground shipping and left a comment that I wouldn’t blame them if it showed up as a brick of lead. It worked – I just got the tracking number.

I’ll post if there’s anything noteworthy about it, but since I don’t have anything to compare it to, I doubt I’ll have much useful to offer.

I am in the US and have used thes guys. Luckily, I found a distribution center near my house. I saved $40 on shipping!

Where is their distribution center? I currently live in Ipswich MA but I’m in the process of buying a house in Candia NH. The Nashua area is pretty close.

Damn! My last job in Lowell had me commuting right by there almost every day. Thanks for the heads up. I know where I’ll be getting solder paste from now on! $10 for a 35 gram 63/37 no clean without shipping is fantastic!
