Intel Edison Block - GSM/3G/GPS

Hello!

You are developing nice blocks for the new Intel Edison!

Like it’s already available for Arduino, BeagleBone, RaspBerry, I would like to buy a GSM Block for the Intel Edison too, with:

  • GSM: make voice calls with analog line in/out, microphone/headphone connector

  • GSM: send and receive SMS

  • GPRS & UMTS/3G: connect to the internet

  • GPS: global position

As mentioned, such boards are already available for Arduino, BeagleBone, etc.

I think we may have Edison GSM and GPS blocks in the idea stages. I’ll pass it along that there is interest in them!

You could still use a GPS unit on the Edison with out the Block right? If you purchased a GPS unit separately and Solder is into the correct add on Block?

+1 for a GPS block. I would like to use an external antenna and be able to use the PPS signal to accurately set the time on the Edison.

All of these are stellar ideas. Need GPS for a project, and mobile data for another.

Ready to order both GPS (10Hz or higher with external antenna) and GSM block…

That would complete my collection.
