Is there a stretch, strain, or pull sensor?

I am trying to use sensors to make a glove that can detect the position that a hand is in. My first thought was to use some sort of sensor that detects how much a wire is being pulled, and then I could run that wire along the top of the glove to detect what angle the hand was. Is there a sensor that could accomplish this?

I don’t think a motion sensor would work, because from what I understand, it would only be able to detect when a user moves his or her hand.

Sadly, not that we carry but there are some types of stretchy conductive fabric that can be used to sense a pulling motion. They change their resistance when stretched.

It wouldn’t work for your application but we carry a [“S” type load cell that measures tension in a cable or chain.](Load Cell - 200kg, S-Type (TAS501) - SEN-14282 - SparkFun Electronics)
