Hi all,
I’m a total newbie to sensors and using the arduino IDE. Please forgive me if anything I say comes across as clueless. The truth is that I am.
Project Goal:
a wearable clip on belt or light that changes colors based on the pace of a runner. (The goal is not to measure speed but to show a visual light based representation of the intensity of a runner or walkers pace)
I’m trying to build a device that I can run with and my hope is to have LEDs that change color and light intensity based on my pace while running. I had no idea what I was getting into when I started this project and after many nights of frustration and disappointment mixed with depression I realize I need help and further direction.
Current Hardware:
I’m currently using the Flora microcontroller but I don’t know that I want to use conductive thread anymore for this project because it is a real PAIN to work with and I suck at sewing… I also purchased the Adafruit_LSM303 accelerometer. In addition I have about 8 Flora neo pixels.
Does anyone have advice on other hardward selection or do you think what I currently have could work for this sort of thing? Also what do you think I’ll be needing in terms of power supply to power several LED lights (the front light should remain bright white to guide the runners path and the side and possibly back lights will change color based on pace) I’m thinking this will be a belt type device but that could change.
I haven’t even mentioned coding yet but I am very novice on this portion too. I’ve tested the LEDs and the Accelerometer successfully but I cannot seem to alter the code without breaking something. Do you recommend hiring someone to do the difficult coding or is it possible for a novice to do something that I’m describing with lights changing color based on acceleration?
Thank you anyone for your help and guidance on getting me closer to bringing this dream to life.
