Could you tell me what distributions (and versions) of Linux the current SMiRF has been tested with, and if there are any distributions/versions with known problems relating directly to SMiRF?
Thanks,
-Pete.

Unfortunately we don’t have a Linux box in the office. So no SMiRF testing with linux is possible. We have to rely on our customers’ feedback.
With that said, SiLabs have released their open Linux drivers : ftp.silabs.com cp2101 cp2101xfer
Silly thing is that they encapsulate the drivers into a windows installer (who the heck came up with that one?), so we’ve put the individual files on the SFE website here: http://www.sparkfun.com/tutorial/USB-Drivers/. Shhh, don’t tell SiLabs.
