im working on a project with my buddies using remote GPS beacons to track team members for large scale woods ball (paintball) games, and i was wondering what any thoughts anyone had pertaining to long range wireless connections (most likely to seen a multitude of sensor data to a base station)
also i forgot i need a few requirements fulfilled:
i need it to be a multi client system where all persons report to a single wireless connection point
What you really want is some sort of mesh-network (aka Zigbee / Chibi / 802.15.4).
That way you can use other players to re-direct the communication through, if one looses signal with the base station. Or alternatively put up repeater stations around the place.
EM Spectrum interferance in the area? (Near a city, Power lines, etc)
Those are suggestions in the solution we might offer, after understanding the functional requirements.
Maybe my intent wasn’t clear, I’m asking those questions not only to determine design requirements, but also bring up design considerations that the OP may not have considered.
