Not sure if this is the right area for this. I have an interest in some bluetooth modules (example:
http://www.digikey.com/scripts/dksearch … X9838SB-ND ) and I have soldered many surface mount parts but not one like this. Could this be done in a “toaster” reflow oven? I don’t want to spend $30 to find out :).
Thanks in advance
p.s. I would have bought this module from sparkfun if it was available
The Telit modules look similar. I’ve had had PCBs using them assembled quite cheaply, although I had to get a stencil made.
hmmmm, never thought of doing that. So there is a service that if I provide the boards and the modules they will assemble them for me? Do you have an example of such a service? That may help me find a good one in the US. Thanks
I am Still interested in the at-home solution though.
I used this company:
http://www.asktechnology.co.uk
They supplied all the parts apart from the MCU and Telit module, and assembled the boards for £30 each. That included X-ray.
Yes, those get be reflowed. The particularly scary looking BGA style pads in the centre are actually no connection pads, so no worry.
It’s not something I would practice on the first time, though.
great info, thanks. I didn’t notice the NCs on the inner pads, it certainly helps.
