That is exactly what I am looking to build. To make the system motor controlled I am planning on using a linear actuator with a pulley system attached to the base of the lift (similar to what they have in the photo).

I also found this tutorial that I am trying to adapt to an Arduino Uno and 2 relays (or an H bridge). Any ideas?
