I’m considering the MLX90609 gyro for a new project, but I became concerned when I read a few forum posts here and elsewhere about issues with the gyro outputs getting stuck at a specific value.
Since gyros in general are too expensive to replace frequently, I was hoping for some words of advice about using this gyro in a new design. If you’ve used this product, could you please post your experiences (good or bad) here?
Thanks!
Hi there, I believe there was a definite problem with one of my gyros, but not with a second one, so I’m guessing a quality control issue. You say you heard about problems with the gyro elsewhere? Could you post up a link? thanks

I also found this information on the Melexis forums:
- The gravity sensitivity (G-sensitivity) [o/s/g]
0.1 deg/s / g
- Linear accelaration
operating range [g]
< 5 g
However the shock survival is < 1500g.
Also, if anyone has more information on the protocol for this device, since the SPI command set doesn’t seem to be listed anywhere, that would be great as well.
