I don’t know where in the forums have I to put this, but I’ve found out that the MPR121 datasheet has an error.
This is the datasheet from the sparkfun site:

There’s an error with the slave address table. Address 0x5A is used when pin ADDR is connected to GND (VSS), and address 0x5B is used when pin ADDR is connected to VDD.
The manufacturer has corrected this error in their site’s datasheet, but the one stored in Sparkfun needs to be updated.
