N00b motor control question

Hello all and sorry for the n00b question (as usual ;).

I am prototyping a small board with a motor controller.

It works by using a power N-type mosfet to sink current with its drain from the motor(yes, it has a flywheel diode), the other motor pole is connected straight to unregulated power supply.

The gate of the mosfet (high impedance) is controlled via the transistor of an optoisolator (again to unregulated power supply), the diode side of the opto isolator goes to a micro pin via the right resistor (to get like 5ma).

I would like to add a status led and the question is: can I hook it’s cathode to the drain of the mosfet and it’s anode (via resistor) to my regulated rail? Will it compromise my power supply (add noise to it)?
