need motor advice for small machine

Hello, I am building a small winch device which needs to turn a 12" wheel (1) rotation per minute and pull a load requiring 12lbs of force.

Given this I believe my HP requirements are .00048 HP. I am not quite sure how to calculate the torque or if it is necessary.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for an AC motor that would be able to pull that load with turning so slowly?

Pololu has a nice tutorial on torque at https://www.pololu.com/blog/10/force-and-torque

If your wheel is 6 inches in radius, then the required torque is 6*12 = 72 inch-pounds minimum (in the antiquated system of units used only in the U.S.).

Thanks for the reply! The torque number matches what I thought it would be. I believe I need to find a small electric gear motor that will move at 2 RPM and that torque. It seems hard to find from my preliminary searches. Would you have any experience or advice in this area?

[This one looks like it might work. My math works out at around 20 lb-ft torque at stall.](https://www.servocity.com/html/2_rpm_gear_motor.html)
