need to handle more current on my 12vdc flashing light ckt

hi

i have a 12vdc flasher that flashes emergency led lights in my vehicle.id like to up the capacity of the flasher to flash a few lights, totaling 5amps.

the flasher outputs 12vdc + & id like the same 12vdc positive flash not a negative flash.

ive seen mosfet ckt but either it gets a negative input/positive output or a positive input/negative output, i need both positive input & outputs.

i also need it to be able to flash rather quickly to reproduce the output of the led flasher, im not 100% sure but would say 50uS

thank you

I don’t know where you got 50uS flash rate; whether you meant 50us rate (which is 25uS ON and 25uS OFF) or you meant 50uS ON (and 50 uS OFF). But either way if this is to “visually” see the flash, that is way too fast for the human eye to see; the eye will see that as a dimming effect but not as a flashing effect.

You are probably already aware of it; but for basic flashing a mechanical relay is the standard used in cars (i say used because newer ones certainly migrated to solid-state relay). For a mechanical relay this is a good choice to try: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/15093

You can get flasher relays at a local auto parts store for a few bucks. They already run on 12 volts and can handle 5 amps no problem.
