Netduino + Logic Level Converter + Relay = Click - Voltage

Project: Automated Nerf Turret

How the Gun was modified: Added 2 relays, added power and fire jacks based on this link: http://hex-machina.com/hw/stampede_autofire

Electronics: Netduino (Standard)

Logic Level Converter: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11978 (have attempted to use just a transistor as well)

ATX Power Supply for 12VDC

What happens:

  1. Connect power to the power jack, connect fire control directly to the 5VDC supply from the Netduino = Bullets flying everywhere.

  2. Connect power to the power jack, connect 5VDC from the Netduino to the high side of the converter, connect a DI/O (3.3V) to the low side of the converter, send high to the DI/O = hear the relay click but no bullets.

Am I missing a component somewhere where I would be getting an undercurrent / under voltage condition? My voltmeter is showing 5VDC in both instances but obviously something isn’t quite right.
