New Pro Micro problem

Read a lot of posts about how easy these are to brick, guess that may be my issue, it doesnt say on the back if the board is 5 or 3.3v, both numbers have a small white square by them. Now the board has 2 red and 1 green leds on all the time and will not accept upload of any programs. I tried to reset with jumper but its not responding. Only Com1 remains available and the PC shows me ‘Unknown USB Device, devie descriptor request failed)’. Device status says Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code 43).

Is there any way this can be recovered/reset/rebooted?

Also note: WIndows only showing only port as COM1 in device manager. DOnt know if thats relevant or not?

For voltage level, check the Jumper next to the USB connector. Open is 3.3V, closed is 5V.

On the product page, under “Hookup Accessories” and “Similar Items”, is a grey area. Open the “Tech Tips” sections. In that thread there should be instructions to recover your board.

Jumper looks like this: J1 with an = sign under it in a small box - assume thats open? Could have sworn I ordered a 5V…can I solder it closed to convert it? (but clock speed?)

Cannot see the webpage you are talking about - do you mean Technical Assistance? I have worked through all the reboot threads and reinstalled drivers, https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/pr … q#ts-reset

its not rebooting properly, I cant get anything uploaded. Went through USB device not recognised - no luck. Went through reviving a bricked micro - no luck.

Not sure what I did - maybe reinstall generic usb driver, but managed to get it to finally recognise the pin reset and loaded it with the basic blink program, now com 8 is available and its accepting programming. Oh, and it is definitely a 5V.
