i am trying to follow those instructions for my son’s laptop. he already had the IDE 1.8.19
https://github.com/adafruit/arduino-boa … index.json
under preferences, we put the link above as per the instructions but his board manager will not show the Adafruit nRF52 board option.
we have uninstalled and reinstalled the IDE, rebooted of course, and we cannot get it to work.
he is using a 2 year old Dell, windows 10 which is the same laptop I have.
The Only difference seems to be that I did not have a version of the IDE so I went straight to version 2.0.
we uninstalled 1.8 and deleted the arduino15 folder and tried 2.0 but it did not work either.
any ideas on what to try next? if we reinstall the IDE, is there anything else we can do to create a clean install besides deleting the arduino15 folder?
I have tried this on another old windows laptop and it is having the same issue.
What do you see when you search for nrf52 AFTER adding the link to the Board Mgr?
Should have a few options, with one being https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/nr … stallation
The only one showing is Arduino nRF52 Boards.
The Adafruit nRF52 option does not appear. This is driving me nuts because I have one laptop (Win10/Dell) where it worked fine which is my work laptop. That one was a brand new IDE install.
I was trying to help my son with a project and we could not get his to show the Adafruit nRF52 option. his is also W10/Dell. I tried deleting any arduino folder, uninstall, reinstall and that didnt work either.
it is like the board manager just isnt downloading the board data.
I tried this on my wife’s laptop (W11/HP) and could not get it to work there either.
so I wasnt crazy (debatable, i know)
the link in the tutorial does not work for the adafruit nrf boards
but I did find a link that works
I have not looked in the actual files to see what is different but the link at the bottom worked as expected.
the link in the tutorial did not work
in the tutorial

works
