Olimex ArmUsbOcd USB composite Device cannot start (Code 10)

Hi,

On my laptop Dell D610 running WinXP I’m trying to install the ArmUsbOcd ARM Jtag but on device manager I’m finding it as “USB Composite Device” with yellow mark and on properties it says “This device cannot start. (Code 10)”.

I have tryed to uninstall the driver from device manager and using FTDI utilis. After reinstalling it I’m receiving the same error.

When I’m connecting it to USB port it says that a problem has occured on installation of hardware and it may not work properly.

When I’m trying to run :

C:>C:\GCCFD\openocd-2007re128\bin\openocd-ftd2xx.exe -f C:\GCCFD\openocd-2007re128\bin\configs\lpc2xxx_armusbocd.cfg

Info: openocd.c:84 main(): Open On-Chip Debugger (2006-01-26 13:30 CET)

Error: ft2232.c:1286 ft2232_init(): unable to open ftdi device: 2

On USBViewer it shows (also has the yellow mark) :

Device Descriptor:

bcdUSB: 0x0200

bDeviceClass: 0x00

bDeviceSubClass: 0x00

bDeviceProtocol: 0x00

Any ideeas ? I don’t know what to do more ? The Olimex has a support account where I can ask for help ?

Regards,

Daniel

it’s unbelievable ! The cause was the USB cable.

I have bought few days ago an AM-BM USB cables it wasn’t cheap but was looking cheap (the wire was very thin).

I had at home an older AM-BM cable wich has thick connection cable.

When I have connected the ArmUsbOcd using this cable windows has asked for drivers and all the things went well.

Remarcable it is that with the bad cable the led from armusbocd was remaining low red…

regards

Daniel
