olimex LPC2294 - problem programming ISP

Hi,

I got LPC2294 olimex board but I am unable to use it. The board appears to be fine with its “Test successfull” result at LCD

Windows XP:

I got VCP driver from ftdi.com installed on my laptop/XP. It shows COM9 for the virtual serial port but Philips LPC flash utility do not allow COM9.

I am not windoz expert also. I want to do traditional serial port ISP as jtag is not yet available to me.

Linux:

On suse10 linux, I tried lpcflash4linux but it do not show 2294 as supported device. Linux VCP creates a /dev/ttyUSB0 so virtual serial port is not problem on linux and this lpcflash has option to take any device name as input.

I tried nearest number. the lpcflash utility was just sending ‘?\r’ and getting nothing in return.

I got board from sparckfun, but due to some funny reasons I could log on this forum. I created a new id using my another email id.

Is it possible that someone can help me?

Thanks

Hi. I just tried the Windows tools on a spare PC but I will try the Linux stuff tomorrow or the day after and see if I have any luck with it.

Windows tip: in your control panel you can change the COM port number

Hi,

Windows XP:

I am able to assign COM2 to VCP. The default for my nx6120 laptop was coming COM9.

There was something funny with either XP or ftdi.com driver.

It was not showing properties tab for control-panel->system->“USB to serial”

I removed the ftdi.com vcp driver, installed the same driver again, it showed me properties tab for control-panel->system->“USB to serial” and a drop down list allowed me choose COM2.

After that Philips LPCFlash Read the Deivce ID with success and I was able to download the test program successfully to the board.

Suse Linux:

I sent a mail to author of lpcflash4linux, he sent me updated utility the same day !

But I have yet to get it work for the board most probably for my lack of embedded knowledge. Once I got it working, I will respond here. It will be charm to do everything from linux.

Thanks
