Panellizing in Eagle 4.16

To all

How do I create multiple copies of the same pcb layout in the final gerber files in Eagle 4.16 to optimize minimum order value. Is there a Gerbmerge or similar program available for Windows XP allowing to create multiples of same PCB layout

Once you’re done routing the board:

  • If it’s open, close the schematic

save the board file with a new, different name

    run panelize.ulp

    show all layers

group all the parts on your board

cut and click the stoplight button at the top

paste the board as many times as you want

  • daemondust,

I have only giving half of the info: I am using the Eagle 4.16 lite version on Windows XP which allows only boards up to 100 x 60 mm. My layout is 1.5 x 2.5 inches. So by using the cutting & paste method it only allows that number of panels not exceeding the board limit of 100 x 60 mm, in my case 2 panels. So what can i do to create a gerber file to maximize the number of panels versus the pcb manufacturer’s $33 price offer for a 60 sq inch 2-layer board.

You can run gerbmerge on windows. http://www.ladyada.net/forums/viewtopic.php?p=15997 looks like it shows how, but I haven’t read it too closely. Google should have more answers.

    daemondust,

I will try out this alternative provided in the link you referred to. Thanks for the help.

I strongly urge people to not panelize using copy/paste. If you have to go back and make any changes, you will regret it.

Gerbmerge is a great solution even if it does seem a bit difficult at first. Keep at it as it is bonehead easy once you get it working.

Hi, your problem can be solved by sending your Eagle .brd file to Custompcb.com. They will panelize for free. If you have them cut it out it cost .50 per item cut. I recently had 70 1x.5 inch boards cut from the two standard 4x5.5 boards. Total cost $87.
