Please recommend an ARM development board / kit

I am trying to evaluate a linux remote desktop program (rdesktop) on an ARM processor based system. I don’t know the differences among so many different development kits. Please recommend one that provides reasonable performance and cost. I feel like it should be at least ARM9 or better.

Any suggestion is appreciated!

why not try cortex m3?

The Cortex won’t run Linux.

Leon

really? it is ridiculous then…

The high-end Cortex A8 can run linux. The M3 is the microcontroller version of the Cortex, and it’s unusual to run linux from any MCU with internal flash.

The AVR32 is a high-end chip you can use for linux, and the Network Gateway demo kit is a cheap way to get a full linux target board.

you need MMU to run Linux or WinCE or similar,

You can run uCLinux on quite a few processors without an MMU.

i do like the gumstix. pherhaps a bit much horsepower for a rdesktop client.

but you can get one with an lcd pack for $412.00

it uses intel pxa270 cpu @ 600mhz and 128mb sdram.
