Post your SparkFun.com bugs and issues here!

Minor security issue: You shouldn’t advertise software versions in production environments.

Apache/2.2.9 (Debian) PHP/5.3.3-0.dotdeb.0 with Suhosin-Patch mod_ssl/2.2.9 OpenSSL/0.9.8g

PHP/5.3.3-0.dotdeb.0

This lets hackers target you with exploits known to those versions.

Also, I think I found an easter egg…

There’s no direct link to https://www.sparkfun.com/account/login available.

Why do you want a direct link to this, out of curiosity?

I don’t, specifically. I just want to be able to login on an SSL secured page without having to trust that the login form on an unsecured page will go to a secured page. On the previous site https://www.sparkfun.com/ would at least give you a secured form.

Incidentally, https://www.sparkfun.com/account/ redirects to https://www.sparkfun.com/account/make when I would think it would be more useful for default to login rather than make.

Shopping cart accepts negative numbers for quantities but calculations treat them as positives. (Actually, the title on the shopping cart and the side bar treats it as a negative number–so I’ve got “-19 products” in my cart on the title and “-19 item” on the side bar.)

Could you please let me know how you did this? It’s being checked in multiple ways. You shouldn’t be able to get this all the way through checkout. If you feel like sending me a PM describing your process bypassing the different methods we’ve used, please do so.

I've PMed you will a follow up on this.

Shopping cart doesn’t list unit prices.

Hmm… I see this:

$4.75 ($0.95 each)

You don’t?

Oh, weird. I do now. Maybe I didn't notice it before because the first item was a single item and the unit price wasn't in a separate column?
The reason we don’t check for overload is - if people want to order that many of any one item, LET THEM! :)
I suppose we could up the column to a bigint and allow for up to 9,223,372,036,854,775,807 of a single item on an order.
I guess my dream of creating a 1291 x 1291 x 1291 LED cube is on hold until then.

Hello,

WishList + SSL seems not to work properly.

If not logged (http) and if I click on the “wishlist” button for one item, a popup starts opening and I’m redirected to the login page. I login, hence switch to https, and then clicking on the “wishlist” button has no effect at all.

Additional Info : my company GPOs reject SparkFun SSL certificate, maybe there is a link.

Sorry I don’t have much time to investigated further … I have my own Mantis issues to work on (and someone to blame for having the build broken !).

Regards,

Thomas.

<form method="post" id="login" action="https://www.sparkfun.com/account/login">

That said, we’ll be moving to all-SSL-all-the-time one of these days.

Incidentally, https://www.sparkfun.com/account/ redirects to https://www.sparkfun.com/account/make when I would think it would be more useful for default to login rather than make.

Yeah, I’ll probably switch that around.

Bluetooth tutorial link is broken.

Can’t add an item to a wish list if it’s out of stock (specifically http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/produc … ts_id=9261).

Also, where did the “Notify me when more items are in stock” feature go? I rely heavily on this!

Not exactly a bug, but just kind of a confusing option

“Yes” is not a Gender (last time a checked). If you changed “Gender” to “Sex” then it can stay though

EDIT: That’s not my phone number anymore, so I’m not gonna go to the effort of blurring it out :p](Photo Storage)

Wishlist, backorder, do not work from here:

I’m seeing a few formatting problems.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6095460/newsfe/pricing.png

These go away if I turn off full-page zooming and reduce the font size.

I’m using a Firefox nightly build on Fedora Linux.

I am still unable to Add items to wish lists using ie8. or even accessing this forum.

I had to open and use mozilla to add to this forum

In Chrome (version 7.0.517.44) the search that is initiated by typing “sparkfun.com” and pressing tab now fails as it uses this URL:

http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/advanc … n=products

rather than:

http://www.sparkfun.com/search/results? … t=products

And it appears this isn’t the only instance:

http://www.google.com/search?q=sparkfun … result.php

http://www.google.com/search?q=%22spark … ult.php%22

I assume it’s because there’s no redirects set up from the old search URLs?

Checking on mega8 prices, which I don’t remember very easily, and they (the prices) are gone. Quantity remaining is also gone, but appears to be more than 38 by the sort order, which itself looks… odd:

http://www.sparkfun.com/categories/134? … er_page=50

Can retired-but-not-sold-out items be a little more consistent, preferably in the direction of available for purchase?

With only a dozen items, my shopping cart now stretches past the fold. I would really like to turn images off within the cart so that i can see more - preferably all - of the cart contents on one screen while I am reviewing the order for correctness and completeness.

New Website is cool, fair bit slower on my crappy connection but otherwise good… except, not a major issue but I think it’s a bit funny that (shown in Australian Dollars) the price of items is shown to 4 decimal places, eg, $14.95 is shown as $14.9500.

As I said, not a real problem, just a bit weird

I’m more of a platinum guy, but I like the way you think.

As a side note, IT would love to have their own kegerator and a soft serve ice cream machine, so if somebody feels like donating the lowly sum of a couple of thousand dollars straight to us rather than ordering billions of LED’s, this is acceptable as well.

It’s better to receive orders which you can handle than taking bulky orders. Anyway, we all are choosing the cheapest but also had quality products. Anyway, May I ask where do u use the donation of thousand dollars? Are you using it to by your own ice cream machine?

It seems all URL pointing to www.sparkfun.com/commerce/ shows a 404 page.

Put a redirect in yut htaccess for that and also make a custome 404 document.

Should help:

RewriteRule http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/(.*) http://www.sparkfun.com/$1 [R=301,L]

Also some little suggestions:

 • Put avaliable stock (in numbers) in the category list (not only in the product page)

 • Put a downloadable PDF of the invoice in order history

Anyway, nice work!
