I’ve just signed up and before submitting a design need to find out whether BatchPCB will be a suitable solution for me. As I understand it, for a double sided PCB of 10 sq in with solder mask and silk screen both sides (actually I don’t really need silk screen, and certainly not both sides, but I guess this doesn’t make any difference to the price) I will pay $35. Is this correct?
Plus shipping: what is the lowest cost way of getting a board of this size sent to UK, and how long does this take?
Obviously I’m comparing this with prototype and pooling services I can get in Europe (it’s pretty dumb to have a board made in China, then shipped to the USA, then shipped to Europe…) but (subject to shipping charges) BatchPCB sems to be substantially cheaper than anything I can find this side of the pond.
There are problems with the shipping options in the BatchPCB webpage at least since early January.
For me (Spain), only Fedex is available as shipping option, at a cost of $30. In the past, there was the USPS shipping option at $1.5 approximately, which was much better if you don’t care if your boards take a few days more to arrive, for example the difference is from 20-25 days (Fedex) to 25-30 days (USPS) since order placement. But I have read in this forum that other user simply does not have any shipping option
I think you should register and upload your design to see which shipping options are available for you, maybe you don’t have anything, maybe you only have Fedex, maybe…
Thanks for your reply. It seems to me that the whole point of BatchPCB is to give a very cost effective solution for one-off prototype boards, and this is completely wasted if I have to pay $30 shipping. I just bought some components from Future Electronics in the USA and was amazed to find that they only charged me £6 for shipping. The shipping method was “FedEx International Priority Distribution” and took 2-3 days. If Future Electronics can do this, why can’t BatchPCB?
