Qwiic cable issue with MLX90640 on Jetson Nano

Hello,

I’m using the SparkFun MLX90640 with a Jetson Nano through the Qwiic cable. The wiring is correct (3.3V, GND, SDA, SCL).

The first time I connected the sensor, i2cdetect -y 1 showed the address 0x33 once. But after that, the address disappeared completely and never came back.

I tried again with the same Qwiic cable and correct pins, but now the MLX90640 is not detected at all.

Could this be a problem with the Qwiic cable, or is it possible that the sensor board was damaged? What is the recommended way to troubleshoot this situation?

Thank you.

Swap the Qwiic cable with a known-good Qwiic cable (or use jumper wires). If you don’t have a spare cable, use a multimeter continuity check between the ends (SDA-to-SDA, SCL-to-SCL, 3V3-to-3V3, GND-to-GND).
