The Artemis RedBoard already has a Qwiic connector onboard. Since the connectors on the Qwiic shield are all on the same I2C port there is little advantage to using it. Most Qwiic sensors have two Qwiic connectors so that you can daisy-chain multiple together
I understand, it had more to do with physical layout … orginally the problem was that I bent one of the pins – sigh and couldnt chain.
but back to the orginal question, I suspect I need to remove the 3v level converter on SDA/.SCL? is that correct?
Yes - you could either bypass the level converters (not sure how hard this would be - depends on your soldering skills) or you could probably change the pullup resistors on the high (artemis redboard) side from 5V to 3.3V - also dependent on soldering skills.
If you don’t then most likely those pullups will be exposing the Artemis pins to 5V which is not in spec
