the target bga platform would have a total cost of approximately 400-500 dollars and would be IR based with conventional bottom heater.
complete computer control and tracking with PID of bottom pcb with k type thermocouple, and control and tracking of top IR heat gun with PID control through our windows software.
that is my vision…
the top of the bga would use an IR thermocouple from www.omega.com which already connect to our controller…and would read when the IR gun is off (obviously)… so cycle on, read, then cycle off. could use a laser pointer for alignment too for IR thermocouple reading (omega sells it).
our controller can use 1 thermocouple and 1 IR thermocouple right now but the windows software needs a little work to graph them both at the same time, and add the 2nd PID control in firmware.
so yes!! that is one idea for our commercial developers kit.
it is a huge market void right now for this low cost BGA equipment.
we have the ability to provide it.
and sparkfun can manufacture it.
we may move on this idea in the near future, but i just wanted to put it out here in the open to see what you guys think and to let you guys get a jump on it also.
If I send you the source code to the reflow tools program, will you give me $599?
Seriously though, why would someone pay $299 for an “enduser” license when they can just get the source themselves? Sure possibly a “royalty free” license isn’t a completely stupid idea, but your going to need to provide more information about the license than just “commercial license for use in a product intended for resale”, especially when asking for $600 from someone.
I’ve already been making changes to the source and fixing the program so it doesn’t have so many damn bugs.
First thing to go was that stupid splash screen, since it does nothing.
