Reprogramming Pro Micro as a joystick controller

Good day,

I have a game controller (very simple, only one analog axis) which has a Pro Micro which looks like the DEV-12640. This thing has somehow lost its joystick functionality. It is still recognized in Windows 11 as a “SparkFun Pro Micro”.

I’m no total noob when it comes to electronics, but this here is certainly too extensive for me to find a solution.

So: Is there a simple way to get the controller reprogrammed? In the means of get this utility and upload that software to the controller.

Do you have a copy of the software that needs to be loaded back into the pro micro? If you do, it will be a lot easier than if you have to create it from scratch.
