RF serial replacement for race car data acquisition

I would like to replace the serial cable connection between a PC and a Data Logger (www.race-technology.com/wiki/index.php/DL1/Connections) with an RF connection so I can stream data to the PC as the car is on the track:

The range is less than 1000M, though rarely line-of-sight.

I could mount a much larger antennae on the receiving end and potentially a signal repeater of some sort.

I need multiple channels as there may be up to four data streams at the same time.

Would a WRL-00559 be feasible? What about an XBee product (the original implementation was based on a MaxStream)?

If the signal is interupted during streaming what is the best way to buffer the data stream until the connection is reestablished?

Thanks
