RF Wireless Control Help Please

Hi

I’m trying incorporate wireless control into my design rather than have hard wired components due to cosmetics and the installation

I have no knowledge whatsoever of wireless apparatus and components but thought if it could be done wireless then it would be the perfect setup. So I’m asking for your help and advice please

I have a line diagram pdf but dont know how to upload it

I’m trying to design an aftermarket system for in ground swimming pools that will auto drain the pool when the level of the pool water reaches a certain point by energizing an electric valve actuator and intern opening the valve to drain the pool. Then when the water drops to an idea level closes the drain valve. It also has a failsafe to shut off the equipment if the drain valve stayed open or let’s say a burst in the pipe work or equipment

Initially I went down the thought of hard wiring but really I don’t think that would be good from both installation and cosmetics .

So today I thought would it be possible to use wireless transmitters and receivers but that’s where in totally lost.

If this is not in your sphere then maybe you could direct me in the correct direction as to where I could find help

My main question is could this be achieved?

Thanks

Chris

There are lots of wireless solutions that would work, but you will need to educate yourself about them to determine which one would be best for you. Partly this will depend on what you use for your host system. That is, you want to set up wireless connection from the valve actuator to what? Will it be a computer? A wall mounted controller? A smartphone? The internet cloud?

SparkFun has several products that could be used to build a solution. You could start by clicking on the “Learn” tab on the SparkFun homepage and searching on “wireless”. I’d also like to suggest you go check out another site, lowpowerlab.com. The folks there have used wireless in automating everything from light switches to mailboxes. The blog and forum will provide some great examples of what can be done. A good place to start would be to click on the Projects link on the homepage and read about each of the projects.

You have chosen a fairly challenging project. Depending on your background it might be quite a stretch. It will be a good opportunity to learn.

Good luck!
