RFID Range and design question

I am not sure this is the place but I was thinking about an RFID emergency tracking bracelet. I have a store where my wife works and she sometimes works alone. If she had a bracelet that activated when broken sending a signal to an application monitoring for that particular signal and then have that application notify me or 911 via e-mail, text or automated voice calling.

I was thinking since my shop is wifi enabled the signal could be either generated by creating a watch with a signal generator as a button on the watch or by active RFID. I don’t know that much about electronics but it seems there should be some workable solution.

Some ideas

google “kid tracker” - most are cellular network based

or medical wireless panic buttons

Most transmit to an in-house base station which then dials a phone #

Quite a variety on the market

I’ve worked with the Ekahau products. Expensive/good tracker for kids in amusement parks, etc.
