School project - Arduino Robot

Hey, I’m Lotte and I’m dutch.

For my school end project, I want to built an arduino robot,

I could use every tip available, because I’ve never made a robot before, nor have I ever worked with Arduino.

My idea for my robot is one which can drive, maybe with a remote control joystick.

I defenitly want a LOL-shield (the LCD board).

I have programmed before, but that’s only in Python with TurtleWorld, I only can do basic stuff.

I hope you can help me and give me advise wether it’s about the programming or wich specialties I can put on (like green shield, light sensors)

Hi and welcome.

The SoR web site has a lots of articles and information on building robot.

http://www.societyofrobots.com/

These will help you learn the basics to get started on a Bot. Their forum does discuss programming the Ardino so you can find help with the programming there as well as here on SparkFun.

Good luck and have fun.

I agree with Waltr’s endorsement of the material on the SoR website.

I’m still in the process of building my first robot, and that site have proved invaluable.

I’ve built a small tracked robot, with speed control feedback that I can remotely control with my television remote and can follow lines (not to well yet, since I’ve been focusing on my motion control setup), all for about $40 US.

I also learned a lot from this website and the forums here.

Try to break you design goals into small problems, start solving them, and good luck!
