SDIO and WiFi ??

Hi out there!

I am wondering if anyone has already managed to get a microcontroller talking to an SDIO WiFi card? These cards are getting really cheap (around 30$ on eBay) - and even more they come in really small sizes, eg. here:

But as far as I know the interface is not public :frowning: … Linux drivers exist; but they might require pre-compiled binary files, do they? Otherwise we should be able to port the linux code to microcontrollers, shouldn’t we? Any experience?

I read that either the interface is going to be rather complicate for, say, a PIC, or the specs are not public due to the will to keep WiFi apart from intereferences and hackers.

Hope things will change in the future!
