I haven’t found a schematic of the LCD (I guess it’s not open source)
but I have a question concerning the 3.3V regulator:
If I supply 5V to RAW, is the LCD able to supply 3.3V for an arduino
pro mini and the SparkFun Lightning Detector - AS3935 SEN-15441?
How many mA can I get out of the LCD regulator?
Thank you for your time
Hi Gerard and thanks for posting on the forums.
Unfortunately we don’t have a schematic available for either of the serLCDs we carry. We also don’t recommend using the voltage regulator on the LCD to power other devices, but you’d probably be OK pulling a 50mA load from it.
You’d be a lot safer supplying 5 volts to the RAW pin on the Pro Mini and letting the Pro Mini regulate the voltage down to 3.3 for the LCD and AS3935.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for this quick reply. I will follow your advice.
