Hello,
Is it possible to power a servo phat using the 5v rail of the servo pin? i.e, connecting the 3-cable PWM (which is usually connected to an RC receiver) of the ESC (electronic speed controller, draws current from battery to motor) one of the servo channels on the phat, and powering it in this way (the voltage between the gnd ond the vcc cables is 5v)\
Thanks in advance,
Guy
This product was not designed to take power into the 5v rail in this manner. We added additional circuitry to the USB-C power input and the 4V4 header that involve regulating. Using the 5v servo rail as an input for power is not advised.
Why not just use the R4R header 5+ pin?
Using the 5v rail is easier since I’m connecting an ESC to the phat, and it has a 3-wire connection just like a servo (in normal circumstances you’s connect it to an RC receiver and power it from its 5v rail). I found that it is possible to power the phat from the 5v rail and it allows me to get rid of some awkward soldering work, so I think I’ll stick with this solution
Thanks!
