Simple LCD digital counter/totalizer/tally display-

I suggest a simple LCD counter (or totalizer) display. Something low power and small, 5-7 digits, with a reset option.

I’m working on a project which uses the output of a PIR to increment a counter. So far I’ve got less than 20$ into this thing including all the components and a water tight box but I can’t find a counter for under $40!!! This is crazy! All I can find are self powered counters from Omron or Reddington. If I scour the net real hard I can find ones out of china but they require a minimum order of 1 billion

Someone suggested I buy a cheap tally counter (like the kind with a lanyard you can wear around your neck) and gut it. [Something like this.

Honestly I’d rather keep buying my parts from Sparkfun.](Home - MeritLine)

I picked blue cause I like it better…

Anyway, if you have an ISP programmer or an Arduino, you can reprogram the display to do a simple count. For $12.95, it’s a good deal. I’m pretty sure you have access to two free lines (Count, Reset)
