Simple Mixed Signal Practices

Hi all,

I’m working on a board that will have sensitive digital signals as well as high dc current. Can anyone give me some simple practices for making an effective mixed signal board? For example, would it be okay to simply use a single large ground plane for both digital currents as well as the power signals? Thanks for thoughts!

[This is the definitive treatise on proper grounding. Consider it the bible

It’s only 8 pages long, but the most important information is in the first couple paragraphs: “think where the currents will flow.” Basically you want to avoid return currents from your high power loads flowing into return current from low-level signals.

Plus there’s some black magic when things get hairy…](Redirect Notice)

I notice that halfway down, he makes the same statement I did, in bold
