I understand that everyone is hurt that they didn’t get in on free day, but how about some love for the company that GAVE AWAY $100,000 worth of stuff? I am a newcomer to this world of electronics, and sparkfun has been the greatest thing I could ever find to help me learn! I am sad that I didn’t get any free stuff, but I am still trying to place my order as we speak, and get what I wanted anyway.
If you have nothing but bad things to say, please use another topic. I would hope that this topic can be used for those who understand that this event was bigger than anyone could have anticipated and NOT sparkfun’s fault. I just wanted to say that I still love this company. And I wanted to have a place that sparkfun can look for some love in the aftermath
So come on everyone, show sparkfun some love in this thread!
yeah your right
i guess they never anticipated this would happen and i also didnt get through but hey thats life

Yeah! Crickets love Sparkfun, too!
Bottom line for me is that I enjoy Sparkfun. It was fun and also hugely frustrating to try to get in on Free Day - and ultimately I failed - but Free Day isn’t why I like Sparkfun.
It’s real nice that the server thrashing is basically over now… I can load the site again. XD
I agree with giving SparkFun some love. It is just beyond me that anyone seriously expected that this would be anything other than a fun lottery. I can’t decide if the complainers are serious or just suffering from Internet disinhibition. This was a brilliant marketing stunt and is bound to make SparkFun a stronger company - something we should all be happy about.

THANK YOU SPARKFUN STAFF!!!

GAVE AWAY $100,000 worth of stuff?
I seriously doubt that SFE's cost of the stuff they gave away was anything near $100,000. Probably more like $30,000 considering their usual markups.

How many more forums are you going to post in explaining the fundamental way businesses make money?
