SparkFun Thing Plus - ESP32 WROOM working with builtin CAN controller

Has anyone able been able to get the SparkFun Thing Plus - ESP32 WROOM working with the builtin CAN controller?

I have tried the two libraries I could find out there (there are products that are sold indicating these libraries) but I can not even get the Setup() code to run (initial Serial.Print statment). If I comment out all the CAN related code and the serial monitor shows the expected CAN messages.

Any thoughts?

Actual issue is how Serial acts with and without this library is included. Beyond not being able to catch Serial.print statement in set up everything is okey dokey.
