Temperature sensors

Hello everyone!

My buddy and I are working on a project where we need to control the temperature of a heating element. We are using a laser to burn stuff, but we dont’ want the laser getting too hot so I thought to use a temperature sensor that shuts of the laser when it gets too hot. Naturally, I looked for decent temperature sensors and found the tmp36. However, my problem is that we are heating things up to 160 C and the tmp36 only goes up to 120 C. Is there another component that would be a good replacement? or what about an alternative solution?

Thanks!

Parts of the laser are getting to 160 Centigrade ?!?

Thermocouples can certainly handle that temp, remote sensing too.

Sorry, the laser itself isn’t getting up to 160 C, it’s the element that it will be heating.

Look into using an RTD or a thermocouple for sensing.

a google search will find you lots of info.

Thanks a bunch! I googled RTD elements and found this little solution:
