I have a couple of Thing Plus’s and they work fine. I bought another one, with the 32UE stamp, and it won’t execute with the same code as the other two Things. What’s up with that? Now, instead of getting work done I’m searching the Internet for reasons why the latest Thing Plus I purchased doesn’t behave like the other two I own. What’s going on the the 32UE?
The name stamped on the PCB is ESP32 Thing Plus. The chip on the board is ESP32-WROOM-32UE. Espressif makes the chip, and it is affixed to the Thing Plus board I received when I purchased from Sparkfun. See 32UE datasheet here…
Sparkfun has a ton of different thin plus boards. What are the sparkfun part numbers for the different boards you have? (The ones that work and the ones that don’t work)
All three are Thing Plus boards. When I ordered the last time from Sparkfun I simply selected Thing Plus, as before, but this time it came with the 32UE. I was expecting nothing different chip-wise. So I went ahead and tried it. I simply used the same code on the 32UE that works on the 32E, I’m pretty sure that’s what anyone would do. But it ain’t happening. Now I have an odd-ball dev board sitting here staring up at me, useless, like I’m supposed to give it a doggy treat or something.
You’re right regarding the antenna. They are slightly different. When I ordered the latest Thing Plus I was under the assumption it would be the same as the previous two. Now that I know that there are multiple models, I want the one that works for me…the 32E. Not the one without an antenna. What product number is that one?
