TJbot - Microphone issue

I’m kind of new to this and trying to assemble the TJbot. I’m able to figure out everything except that I ran into one issue with ‘speech to text’. After setting up everything, TJBot doesn’t respond to anything I say (just like a teenage kid). When I tried to get the list of recording devices it DOES list one UPnP device( assuming that is the microphone). I installed Audacity application to see I can record anything (to prove microphone is working), the app won’t even let me select anything(probably not detecting anything).

I know this is not sufficient information, but any suggestions on how to proceed ?. Can it be some configuration issue or just faulty microphone ?.

Are you able to share a picture of the microphone and it’s connections?

Attached the pic. It’s a USB… Is there some additional connection needed?

Test the microphone by plugging it into a separate PC.

Thank you for the suggestion…not sure why I didn’t think about trying on a different computer.

I have tested by connecting to my windows laptop. I see the same behavior. It is ‘recognized’ when I plug-in, but it is not recording anything.

I would file an RMA request to replace the microphone, it may not fix it but it’s a place to start. https://sparkfun.com/returns
