Hi everyone, I’ve got a new project up on Kickstarter that may be of interest. Tracksoar is an Arduino based APRS tracker designed for high altitude weather balloons. The goal for the board is to make weather balloon as inexpensive and simple as possible. To do this we combined an APRS tracker with temperature, pressure, and humidity sensors in one compact board. It’s completely open source and based on the Trackuino project. You can see more and back our Kickstarter here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/12 … ksoar-aprs
Here’s a quick visualization from a test flight done yesterday in Texas. This was made using data gathered from APRS.fi and processed using gpsvisualizer.com then opened in Google Earth for the screen shot. Each dot is a report from the APRS tracker and the color corresponds to altitude. Total flight time was 4.5 hours with a max altitude of 107,000 feet.
