UART base satellite terminal?

Hi,

Is there any wireless terminal that base on satellite communication(not base on radio something like xbee, wifi, bluetoth)?

That can be use with Micro controller(Arduino) base on serial(UART).

Thanks

nothing practical, affordable for your example.

Cellular, maybe.

truly satellite… the cheapest isn’t cheap, such as http://www.orbcomm.com/

Thanks for your advice.

Yep it is expensive.

But I found wireless terminal that is like as I said.

I also download that datasheet but in the last few moth I accidentally deleted it.

Now, I cant find it again even in the internet.

As far as I know, true satellite data terminals, for low data rates, are limited to

ORBCOM (VHF) low earth orbit (LEO). Used mostly for rural/remote asset tracking and telemetry at places lacking cellular coverage (streams, lakes).

Qualcomm’s LEOs: GlobalStar. Probably too expensive.

Iridium: Bankrupt, now essentially a US DoD asset. Pricey like GlobalStar.

There are a few low speed terminals for geosynchronous satellites (not LEOs)- that are in the 22,000 miles away synchronous orbit. These terminals send a burst of low rate data at infrequent planned time slots (like a few times a day).

If you can’t use cellular but need long range, bring money.
