Unable to upload sketch to ESP8266 Thing Dev

Is it possible to brick the Sparkfun ESP8266 Thing Dev boards? My laptop battery died unexpectedly (I also discovered my old Macbook has a bad battery) while I was in the middle of uploading to the microcontroller. I have no idea where in the process of the uploading, I just know I was and the laptop powered off. After starting the laptop back up, I was unable to upload to the microcontroller. I have a handful of other ESP8266 boards and I have another one that uploads just fine.

I have basic/general experience with Arduino programming via the IDE and I was just successfully programming the ESP8266 Thing Dev board minutes before without any issues. I don’t have a deep understanding of how the code uploads so the only thing I can think of is that the board is bricked or unable to upload via the bootloader.

Any assistance you all can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Powering off during an upload could cause you to brick the board unfortunately.
